Most of Us Have Far More Courage…

That quote by Dale Carnegie really resonates with me. It’s a great reminder that all the courage we need is already within us.

Believe me, your own profitable online business is within your reach; you just need to exercise the right amount of courage in proportion to the size of the business you desire.

For example, right now my goal is to net $15K per month from a portfolio of online businesses. I currently earn almost half of that working my corporate 9-to-5 job. If I am going to make my online dreams a reality, then I will have to exercise the courage to take action and make it happen.

The same holds true for you.

You’ll require the courage to do that which you have not done before; to venture into uncharted territory; to risk your own investments of time and money.

It will take the courage to do what you truly believe is possible while others think otherwise. It’s the courage to step out on stage and be vulnerable, under the watchful, judging eyes of others.

The bad news is that these fears and risks may never go away completely. And as you reach new levels of success, there will be larger fears to encounter.

The good news is that you already possess all the courage you need to realize your dreams.

An interesting thing about fear is that when you rise with courage to face your own fears, many times you’ll find that there was nothing to fear in the first place. Your perceived fears never stood a chance.

Yes, it’s true that most of us have far more courage that we may know, but unfortunately most choose not to live courageously.

Be different.

There’s a reason why you want to do the uncommon.

It’s OK to be Scared. Do it anyway.

Whether you plan to buy an existing business or build one from scratch, there will be challenges, doubts, and fears to overcome.

On this journey you will be required to exercise courage with your actions and decisions. Fortunately, courage is a mental skill that can be conditioned and developed.

You can progressively build up your courage by taking action to conquer smaller fears first. As you overcome these smaller fears, you’ll naturally be able to take on larger ones. Think of it as mental weight training to conquer your fears. Start with the lighter fears first, and then build yourself up to be able to handle the heavy-weight fears.

Understand that you will always have the power to choose to exercise courage over fear. You have the ability to think and take action despite internal or external voices telling you to stay within your own comfort zone.

This really made me think. I absolutely love all my friends and family, however, the truth is that most are employees (which is completely fine if that’s what you desire). I realized that if I wanted to successfully build & buy online businesses, I needed to build relationships with others who are also setting out to do the same thing.

As a result, PassionPlusProfits was created with one thing in mind: to connect and build relationships with serious digital entrepreneurs working to buy and/or build profitable online business.

This is the perfect platform for me to share my thoughts, ideas, as well as my successes and failures with those traveling similar paths, in hopes that you receive something of value.

The Reason Why Every Business Is for Sale

More than likely, the right business that meets your needs already exists. There’s a huge number of websites and business brokers who can help you find a business that has already been listed for sale.

One of my mentors has taught me that an often overlooked method to finding the right business is to purchase a business BEFORE it goes to market. This concept is similar to buying a house or getting a job before it’s listed to the general public.

The reason why every business is for sale is because at the right price, EVERY owner will consider selling their business.

You will have a huge advantage in finding your right business if you understand this reasoning. This is the mentality that will significantly increase your chances in finding the right business.

It’s possible to approach a business not currently listed for sale and to start a dialogue with the owner to get them to think about selling.

Interestingly, while my primary objective is to purchase online businesses, by holding the belief that EVERY business is for sale, I’ve found a worthwhile offline business opportunity that I’m currently exploring. All I did was ask about the story of the business because I was interested in the product and now I’m communicating potential acquisition details with the seller.

Under the right conditions deals can be made where both the buyer and seller win.

The whole point of this post is to encourage you to avoid limiting your search to online or newspaper listings. There’s an abundance of options when searching for the right business to buy.

Be open to the idea that there’s a business out there where the current owner just needs you to motivate them to sell at a fair price. They may be ready to sell but just don’t know it yet! 😉

When executed properly, buying an online business can be one of the smartest buying decisions you can ever make. It’s important to understand what you need to successfully acquire the right online business.

In my previous post (part 1), I described the first 2 skills that you will need to buy the right online business for yourself.

3⃣ Courage. What would you do if you had more courage? The process of purchasing an online business will require you to step out of your comfort zone. There will be challenges, risks, and uncertainty. Friends, family, and strangers will tell you all the reasons why buying an online business is risky. Ultimately, it will be up to you to decide whether or not you willl continue to take steps towards your objective.

4⃣ Common Sense. Buying an online business can be an emotional rollercoaster. You will need to balance courage with common sense. It can be so easy to get excited about a business as you think about the profits and the lifestyle it can bring you. On the flip side, the fear of the unknown can cloud your judgement and perception of reality. In both cases, you must not think irrationally and throw common sense out the window. You don’t need to rush any decisions, in fact, it may be best for you to slow down in order to make the right decisions with unemotional common sense.

4 Essential Skills You Will Need to Buy the Right Online Business (Part 1)

If your dream is to buy your own profitable online business, as the new owner, you will need to possess these 4 skills to buy the business that’s right for you.

1⃣ Clarity. You must know what you want and be able to describe it clearly. For example, can you answer these questions with clarity:
Which business type, industry or niche are you interested in?
What is your timeline to buy?
What is the purchase price range you are looking for?
Why do you want to buy an online business in the first place?
As the new owner, what will a typical day look like for you?

2⃣ Communication. In an increasingly virtual and global marketplace you must also be able to understand and deliver your message across different platforms such as text, email, telephone, and social media. Without face-to-face interaction, it’s easy to lose sight of the intended context.

Misunderstandings and miscommunications are a threat to all businesses, especially online. How effectively you communicate with the outside world will have a profound affect on your business.

Right Actions = Right Results

Results are the name of the game. It’s not enough to just be “busy”. Are your actions taking you closer to buying/building your profitable online business?

Take an honest look at your current results and you’ll receive immediate feedback on what your own thoughts, feelings, and actions have brought you. If you’re not satisfied with the results in any area of your life, that just means you’re lacking in taking the right actions.

Be aware that activity is not the same thing as accomplishment. Don’t delay taking the right actions by busying yourself with tasks that don’t bring you closer to the achievement of your desires.

When I was running my first DJ business, I quickly realized how significant the right actions affected my resulting profits. At first, I spent the majority of my time making sure my business cards and website looked great, and I ignored everything else. As a result, I had a great website and cards, but I wasn’t seeing a positive impact on my profits because I didn’t invest any time in contacting clients and driving traffic. As I learned how to grow my business, I realized that my actions were best spent calling and meeting with potential clients.

What are the right actions that you can take today to create the right results you desire?

If it is your desire to buy/build a profitable online business, then you must be deliberate with your actions. Aim to make measurable progress in reasonable time.

Pursue Your Passions

Out of all the different things you can be doing right now, make it a priority to pursue your passions.

Yes, we each have our responsibilities, obligations, and various other commitments, but let’s not lose focus of what’s important to us. It can be so easy to get caught up in our typical day-to-day routines.

Refuse to get stuck in a rut and switch it up!! If you already know what you’re passionate about then you’ve got it easy; just go out and start living your passions.

If you’re not quite sure what you’re passionate about yet (as I am), you can still get excited about uncovering and discovering your passions.

In case you’re still trying to figure out what your passions are, here are some actionable steps you can take right now:
1⃣ Meditate. Go find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed and sit in silence for at least 20 minutes. Before you begin, ask yourself: “What am I passionate about?” You will receive some kind of answer, and it’s ok if that answer is “I don’t know.” Sometimes the answers will come to you during your meditation. Other times the meditation simply unblocks something from your mind and the idea will come to you at another time.

2⃣ What did you love doing as a child? Children express their passions with no restraints. Think back to your childhood. What did you enjoy doing and what sparked your imagination?

3⃣ Ask your friends and family what they think you’re passionate about. We often have “blind spots” that can prevent us from seeing the obvious about ourselves. Getting a different perspective from those who know us well can give us insights to characteristics we already possess, but overlook because they are so natural to us.

4⃣ Brainstorm. Simply put pen to paper and start writing down anything that comes to mind. The idea here is to pour your thoughts out onto paper and then evaluate them later.

5⃣ Do something for the first time. Trying something new and different has the potential to spark passion, or at the very least, clarify what you’re not passionate about.

Your passion is waiting to be unleashed. Master your passions and the profits (as well as anything else you desire) will surely follow.
